Coimbatore, Dec 22:
Zoho Corporation organised an inter- college App developing contest for the students who have been certified in Zoho Creator- An app development tool for Business enterprises. This contest is named as APP-A- THON and is conducted across colleges in Tamil Nadu with ZCCA trained students. This contest was conducted at 3 levels. ITK Education Services Private Limited – an authorized Training Partner for Zoho Creator trained and certified over 2000 students from 11 colleges at Chennai & Coimbatore. Out of these talent pools 453 Teams with the team size of 2 have registered for this contest across the colleges, and participated in the first level at the respective colleges. For the 2nd level around 76 Teams have contested and this level has taken place at Chennai in Sairam Engineering College and at Coimbatore Karpagam College of Engineering. The finals of the contest took place at Zoho Corporation – Estancia Park with 29 teams.
Final level was judged by the panel of eminent developers of Zoho corporation and shortlisted 8 teams as finalists on the efficiency, method, complexity, integration, Data Modelling, Flexibility, UI/UX, Presentationon the application developed. The finalists later presented their application to panel consisting of R.SenthilKumar – Director – ATI, DGT, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship – Govt of India, H Charles – Director Consulting – IEMA, Coordinator – IIT Incubation Centre, Chennai were the chief guests of Grand Finale with the Special Dignitaries Dr.Sudha Mohan – Joint Managing Trustee Eshwar College of Engineering and Dr.Raghuram – Pro Chairman PSNA college of Engineering. Alongwith the judges from Zoho, special panel consisted of the chief guests and the special dignitaries have selected the first 3 winning teams.
The first prize of Rs 1 lakh and trophy with the rolling shield was bagged by AG Swag Team of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology and the team consisted of Mohammed Azarrudin and Gowtham – final year, Information Technology students.
Second prize went to Professional Creator Team of Bannariamman Institute of Technology with the award of Rs 50,000 while third prize went to RIT Delugers of Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology Chennai with Rs.25000 cash Award. The Best team award was bagged by Kasi Viswanathan and Dharakesh, III yr CSE students of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology. Also, best Idea and Mentors were also awarded with titrations and cash prizes.
Two students Akshay and Aishwarya, IV year Information Technology students of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology were offered with Internships in Zoho Developer Partner.
Hyther Nizam Vice President – Business Process Suite – Zoho, has rendered the Vote of Thanks and highlighted that Appathon was an opportunity for Student Community to showcase the expertise of creating an application with the low coding platform in Creator in a short duration of 10 hours at 2 levels. This exposure will increase their employability prospects and also congratulated all the students who have won the contest and motivated all the participants and appreciated.
